NMC will implement changes to make the student center one of the most utilized places on campus, she said.
The Office of Student Activities and Leadership is located at the student center, which was recently repainted.
Tenorio said NMC wants to see more improvements in its facilities to enhance student learning.
It is important to continuously develop the student center since students go there on a daily basis to work on their school requirements, she added.
She said students also go to the center for recreational purposes.
It’s a place for students to socialize, which is “a pivotal aspect of post-secondary education,” she added.
Office of Student Activities and Leadership program coordinator Perry Inos Jr. said the funds used to develop the center are allocated by the college.
“With the abundant assistance from student volunteers, we were able to refurbish the student center in four days time, which is a great accomplishment,” he said.
He added that the college makes improvements to the student center on a regular basis.
NMC also looks at the student evaluation of their activities to ensure that the improvements are in line with the students’ needs, Inos said.
Inside the center
The student center has computers and printers — including wireless printers — for students who can use them for academic and extra-curricular assignments.
It has a Wi-Fi area where students can surf the Internet while using their laptops, a flat screen television, and event planning resources for students who want to organize events.
Tenorio said NMC has also upgraded the center’s recreational materials like game consoles, board games, billiards and darts.
