PSS honors outstanding employees

THE Public School System on Wednesday celebrated its 33rd anniversary by honoring its five outstanding employees.

The annual winners are chosen through a rigorous selection process, and the nominees are the school-level winners.

This year, the awards were presented during the education officials’ school campus visits on Saipan, Tinian and Rota, including the various Head Start/Early Head Start Centers.

These are the winners:

• 2022 PSS State Counselor of the Year — Kimberly Reyes Manglona of Marianas High School.

• 2022 CNMI PSS State Teacher Aide of the Year — Rodrigo G. Ada of William S. Reyes Elementary School.

• 2022 CNMI PSS State Administrative Staff of the Year — Alex D. Menor of Koblerville Elementary School.

• 2022 CNMI PSS State Instructor of the Year — Ronnie L. Aguon of Chacha Oceanview Middle School.

• 2022 CNMI PSS State Trades and Maintenance Staff of the Year — Henry C. Lizama, also of Chacha Oceanview Middle School.

• 2022 CNMI Teacher of the Year — Dr. Riya Nathrani of Hopwood Middle School whose selection was first announced by PSS in October.

Presenting the awards on Wednesday were acting Commissioner of Education Eric Magofna, Board of Education Chairman Andrew L. Orsini, PSS Human Resources Director Lucretia B. Deleon Guerrero, and PSS search committee coordinator Frankie Camacho.

It was in 1988 when the CNMI Department of Education, which was under the executive branch, became the autonomous Public School System governed by an elected, non-partisan Board of Education.
