Letter to the Editor: Immigration and minimum wage laws

The federal government wants to tighten up all U.S. borders, and straighten up U.S. minimum wage rates for its U.S. citizens and guest workers.

The used and abused local immigration and minimum  wage rules are the ultimate problems. People are suffering, struggling and striving to survive but still some local leaders want the same old ideas in this cyber informational world where we are behind in our infrastructure in advancing and beautifying our image.

We need honest, innovative and visionary leaders who will help restructure our image, improve the livelihood of our people and create sustainable economic programs that will put our people to work.

Our people and our guest workers are not getting the results they want from this or from past administrations.

How long are we going to live in a rundown water system or a power system that endangers our people’s lives?

We need leaders who will move our government into the pathway of success in the interest of the local people. We need to restore our customs and cultural diversity. As local islanders, why fight the silver spoon that feeds you? Aha! You want the gold spoon for your cronies!

Well, whether you like it or not you have to bite the bullet because this is a double-edged sword you’ll have on Nov. 4, 2009.

I hope a new leader comes in and build our islands from bottom up and restore our moral, ethical, logical and true island lifestyle in a beautiful way in this critical economic reality we’re all in.

We could really use a no-nonsense and realistic leader, or leaders, who will work to create a new CNMI image.
