Health tips for the rainy days

Here are some helpful remedies you can do to avoid these symptoms, or to prevent them from spreading around.

•    Drink plenty of fluids. Fluids can help you replace the liquids you lose during fever and help ease the pain of a scratchy throat. You can try water, hot tea with lemon, fruit juices, and soups. 

•    Get more rest. Staying in bed can help you feel better and help control the virus from spreading to others.

•    Take medicines if you have fever. You can also use lukewarm water to sponge your body to lower the fever and help make you more comfortable.

•    Try a nasal spray or decongestant if you have stuffy nose and find it hard to breath. Moist air from a sink full of hot water or from a hot shower can also help clear stuffy nose.

•    Use soft disposable tissues that contain lotion to wipe your nose and lips, and apply petroleum jelly if they become sore.

•    Elevate your head with more pillows at night if coughing keeps you awake.

•    Cough drops like Vicks can help ease the pain in your throat from coughing.

•    Stop smoking and stay away from smokers especially if you are suffering from cough.

Rainy day fitness

For those who are not suffering from any of the symptoms of fever and flu, the rainy days are not an excuse to curl up in bed or on the sofa watching television as you load up on calories. You can still do your regular exercise regimen even if you are inside the house on a rainy day. If you are used to jogging or walking outside each day, let not the rain hamper you from your daily active routine. You can still spice up your life and give your body a boost with an indoor workout.

Here are some suggestions to get everyone off the couch and on their feet:

Put on some lively upbeat music. This will create an instant boost that will lift everyone’s spirits and set them to start tapping their feet. Urge everyone in the family to dance to get the blood pumping and carry on from there. Dancing around will make your heart beat significantly faster and improves circulation much better than when sitting down the whole day  sulking because the rain destroyed your plans.

Put on an exercise video on the player and follow the steps.

To keep everyone entertained, you can also create indoor games and get everyone to join.

The important thing is to get everyone to exercise and enjoy at the same time.
