THE King of the Grill competition is taking place on June 17, Saturday, at the Taste of the Marianas food festival at Garapan Fishing Base to see whose skills thrill the grills.
There are two divisions to compete in: Indies and Chef.
In the Indies Division, teams are comprised of fathers and their children. The family team will be judged on their ability to grill baby back ribs and wow the judges.
In the Chef Division, teams from professional food vendors around the island will compete.
According to the official rules and regulations, a Chef Division team will comprise of one chef and one kitchen staff as an assistant.
Winners of the Chef Division will be chosen by festival goers. They can fill out special ballots available at the festival grounds. A voter will be allowed to taste-test a portion of each competing chef’s dish before casting a ballot. Voters can sample the competitors’ dishes from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and then return the filled ballots to contest organizers.
