2 to serve prison time for DUI

TWO individuals will serve time in prison for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo on Tuesday sentenced Abnel Revandeniera to a prison term of one year, but all suspended, except for three days.

Revandeniera was also given credit for 12 hours of time already served.

Judge Govendo directed him to report to the Department of Corrections on Feb. 3 at 6 a.m. He will be released on Feb. 6 at 6 a.m.

Revandeniera will also pay a fine of $500 and $145 in probation and court fees. He will be placed on one-year probation, and will perform 40 hours of community work service. 

Assistant Public Defender Emily Thomsen represented Revandeniera in the court proceedings.

As for Burt Fanagiluy, Judge Govendo sentenced him to serve one year and six months in prison, but all suspended except for the first 12 days.

The judge found Fanagiluy guilty of DUI and driving without a license.

Fanagiluy was given credit for 12 hours of time served, and will report to Corrections on Feb. 2 at 6 p.m. He will be released on Feb. 13 at 6 a.m.

He was ordered to pay a $500 fine, a $240 probation fee, and a $25 court fee.

Fanagiluy will be placed on two years’ probation after serving his sentence, and will perform 40 hours of community work service.

His driver’s license was also suspended for 30 days starting on Jan. 18.

Assistant Public Defender Tyler Scott represented Fanagiluy while Assistant Attorney General Dejon Redd appeared for the government in both cases.
