Assemblyman gives all he had

As promised, Ngirablau gave away his first paycheck to the elderly women of Iyebukel hamlet last Friday.

“I am in debt to these people,” he said, “Not because they voted for me, but because they have always been of service to the state.  We owe them a great deal.”

Sambal said that he signed over his check to the women as token of appreciation for enduring the many changes – good and bad – that have come to the state; and yet, still have enough energy to ensure that the traditional obligations of the hamlet are met.

“They are the people I have consulted for advice,” Sambal said. “They are the reasons I and others have steady lives.  Without them, we would not be here.”

In a phone interview with one of the women of the hamlet, she said that Sambal gesture is an indication of potential greatness.  She said Sambal is the first Assemblyman to have “given it all” he had.

Sambal said he has long road ahead of him, as far as proper legislative etiquettes are concerned.  However, his focus shall remain with the people he represents.

“I have a lot of things to learn from and within the assembly,” he said. “I, however, am fully aware of why I am in the assembly and intend to learn and do everything I can in the interest of the people of the state.

Sambal declined to disclose the amount of his paycheck.  He said, “it is not even close to the amount that I want to give, but it is all I had.”
