(DCCA) — On Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022, four child care providers on Saipan participated in child development training on the required health and safety topic, “Child Development.” The session was conducted by Evergreen Learning’s quality care specialist, Maricar I. Pena, and held at the Evergreen Learning Training Center in Chalan Kanoa.
During the two-hour session on child development, participants gained an understanding of the natural abilities young children are born with that help them make sense of the world they live in. In addition, participants were able to identify the four developmental domains and learn why these domains should be recognized and fostered in a child care setting through interaction, engagement, and planned activities.
The Child Care Reauthorization Act of 2014 requires that all Child Care Development Fund Program child care providers must complete preservice training requirements in 12 health and safety topic areas before they are allowed to be left alone to supervise young children. The topic of child development meets one out of the 12 required trainings on health and safety.
