
Last week, Maj. Gen. Mark A. Hashimoto of the U.S. Marine Forces Pacific, together with other senior military officials, met with Gov. Arnold I. Palacios, Lt. Gov. David M. Apatang, Tinian Mayor Edwin P. Aldan, Sen. Jude U. Hofschneider, and other CNMI officials to provide an initial update on where the Marines are in the planning process for adjustments to the CJMT or CNMI Joint Military Training proposal. On Thursday, MARFORPAC met with agency and government leadership, including Tinian Mayor Edwin Aldan, and local experts who will collaborate with the U.S. Department of Defense during the CJMT environmental planning process in the next year and beyond. On Friday, Maj. Gen. Hashimoto led the CNMI Stakeholders’ Meeting with Governor Palacios, Lt. Governor Apatang, and other local leaders, including Tinian Mayor Aldan, regarding updates on DoD-funded projects and initiatives that have been underway for the last few years such as road paving in Tinian, the Tinian Harbor improvements, community projects and military training in the CNMI.
