Norita, 20, is charged with two counts of criminal mischief, and minor consuming alcohol. He has denied the charges.
During a change of plea hearing, Norita rejected the plea offer and moved to be examined for public defender assistance.
The court found Norita indigent.
Norita’s court-appointed lawyer, Joey San Nicolas, earlier filed a motion to withdraw as counsel which the court granted.
Govendo directed the Public Defender’s Office to represent Norita.
On Feb. 9, 2008, Norita, then 20, and Joaquin Tenorio, then 19, scratched and dented the left side of a Ford truck, while parked outside a video rental establishment in Dandan, the prosecution said.
The next day, Norita and Tenorio shattered the windshield of the same Ford truck while it was parked at a residence.
The prosecution said Norita and Tenorio, both being under 21, consumed alcohol on Feb. 10, 2008.
Details regarding Tenorio’s case were not available.
