Event organizer and promoter Dee Clayton is inviting the community to come and watch this spectacular event as local and off-island talents showcase what they’ve got in a bodybuilding competition.
Clayton said that contestants who will be vying for the top places in the Women’s Body Figure short class division and tall class division are Lucia Halaby, Jamriang Frieden, Samantha Birmingham Babauta and Yumiko Kawaha.
In the male physique division are 20-year-old Joel Tudela from Dandan, 20-year-old Raymond Santos from Koblerville, and 40-year-old Manny Aaron from Kagman 1.
Competing in the men’s bodybuilding category are Johnny Santiago who returns after competing in the 2005-2006 CNMI Bodybuilding IFBB, and Catalino Riodique known as Jhun from Garapan coming in at 170 lbs. to defend the title in his weight division as well as the overall championship.
Clayton said there will be a bikini competition in other divisions too.
G. Gray, a guest poser from off-island, will be here “to rock the stage” in his competition routine, Clayton added.
The competition is composed of participants who are regularly exercising and practicing their routines and not just anybody who came in and signed up.
“Everybody has been preparing for the event,” she said.
Clayton stressed the importance of bodybuilding, adding that it does not only focus on exercise but also on following a proper lifestyle, proper diet, focus and willpower.
“Anybody can do this if they are willing to change their lifestyles. Why maintain a look of being 54 years old if you can look like you’re just 24?” she asked.
Clayton said she had been planning to hold a bodybuilding championship for the past two years but had not gotten over the hurdles until now.
“I’m just here to help make this possible for our contestants,” she said.
Clayton said the contest tomorrow night is timely because the CNMI team is invited to join the bodybuilding competition on Guam in November.
Medals and trophies and other prizes are at stake for the winners in the different categories. Entrance fee is $15 per person. The doors will open at 5 p.m. and the show starts at 6:30 p.m.
Sponsors for the event are Rosal Zest Enterprises, Megabyte, Megazone, Flor’s Beauty Parlor, Island Rebel, Danielle’s Massage, Taro Sue, Power 99 FM, Gold’s Gym, Shell, and Hyatt Regency Saipan. For more information, call 788-9720 or 285-2795.
