Rose Ada-Hocog, Koblerville Community Coalition Neighborhood Watch Group leader, said burglaries and other crimes are not only a concern of the government but a problem of the community as well.
“The government has enacted laws and provided policing and programs aimed at deterring crimes, but the community also needs to do their part,” she said.
Koblerville Youth Center program coordinator Vernon Lee Manglona said the burglars stole their desktop computer and its printer.
Ada-Hocog said the residents in Koblerville were disgusted by the incident.
“The center staffers have been working really hard, swallowing their pride to ask for donations and assistance to make sure that the center is equipped with what the children of Koblerville need,” she said.
She said the center is like a second home to the children, and serves as their “safe haven.”
“To those involved in this crime, I have but one question: What did the kids do to you to deserve this?” she asked.
The Koblerville Community Coalition Neighborhood Watch Group, she said, will work with the Department of Public Safety to ensure the arrest and prosecution of those involved in the case.
Ada-Hocog said she also plans to seek donations to replace the stolen items and to offer a reward in addition to the one offered by the Crime Stoppers Program, which can be reached at 234-7272, for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those involved.
Ada-Hocog is also asking community members not to buy stolen items.
