The $1 per 1,000 gallons has increased to $2.50 per 1,000 gallons.

CUC power advisory
(CUC) — The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. would like to inform the general public that in its continued efforts to reinforce the power distribution system, the power division will continue to perform systems maintenance on laterals in the Kagman 3 Feeder 4/7 circuit.
This maintenance project will be performed in stages. As previously promulgated on June 18, and published in the local papers on June 19, the first of three stages of this systems maintenance project will be on Saturday, June 27.
The second stage of this maintenance project will be on Saturday, July 11.
The third stage of the project will be announced at a later date.
This maintenance project will incorporate the replacement of approximately 300 deteriorated pole top pins (pole hardware) throughout the Kagman 3 area.
The deteriorated pins are of steel composite and were installed 12 years ago and have now exceeded their life span.
Because of their age and extensive exposure to the elements they require replacement to reinforce the circuit.
Nevertheless, because of the consistent ocean salt spray in that area, the new replacement pins have fiberglass shafts and are expected to be more dependable under the conditions.
The second stage on Saturday, July 11 will be from 8:30 a.m. through 5:30 p.m. and will be isolated to laterals only.
The line crew will be working in many areas throughout the day and will only interrupt power to a certain street (within the feeder) to perform the necessary repairs and re-energize the street lateral when the area is complete.
The streets to the affected are those that may not have been completed in the June 27 scheduled outage.
Then the crew will work themselves into the remaining streets of Kagman 3, Feeder 4/7 circuit.
CUC apologizes for any inconvenience the power interruption may impose on the community and will continue to work diligently to maximize future interruption.
Red flag raised at 11 sites on Saipan
(DEQ) — The Division of Environmental Quality says water samples collected from Paupau Beach, San Roque School, Tanapag Meeting Hall, DPW Channel Bridge, S. Puerto Rico Dump, Smiling Cove Marina, American Memorial Park, Garapan Fishing Dock, Garapan Beach Drainage, Sugar Dock and CK Dist #2 Drainage contained excessive concentrations of fecal indicator bacteria — enterococci — that exceeded the CNMI’s marine water quality standards.
To adequately address public health concerns, DEQ has given these locations a red flag and advises the public not to fish or swim within 300 feet of these locations for the next 48 hours or until otherwise notified.
Tinian beaches are assigned a green flag.
