“Most of our customers are members of the Navy,” said Hanah, a waitress and entertainer at a Paseo de Marianas club.
She and her other co-workers are hoping that the build-up will bring in more customers.
“We have a few customers without the Navy and the Marines,” another entertainer said.
She believes that the decrease in the number of Russian tourists is the main reason why “business is down these days.”
The management of Rainbow Club in Garapan also believes that the Guam military build-up “will help restore the weakening economy.”
The increase in number of American servicemembers on Guam will mean additional customers for Saipan bars.
The club does not benefit much from Japanese tourists because their main customers are statesiders.
“More American military, more tips,” Jackie Zhen Woo, an employee of a spa at PDM, said.
