Clinton’s plane to refuel on Guam

The Andersen Air Force Base’s public affairs office said it has yet to hear from the State Department if Clinton will spend time meeting with the troops while her plane refuels.

The former first lady and her husband, then-President Bill Clinton, visited Guam in 1998.

Mrs. Clinton is traveling to Asia from Oct. 27 to Nov. 8.

The State Department will notify Andersen of the ground rules such as whether she will meet with troops and for how long and they hope to get official confirmation today.

Andersen has since sent out an email to the State Department for confirmation.

Mrs. Clinton’s Asia tour includes visits to Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Australia, New Zealand and American Samoa.

She will arrive in Honolulu on Oct. 27 where she will meet with Japanese Foreign Minister Seiji Maehara to discuss a broad range of issues, including the importance of the U.S. Japan alliance as a “cornerstone of American engagement in the Asia-Pacific,” according to the State Department’s website.

On Oct. 28, in Hawaii, Mrs. Clinton will deliver a major policy speech on the U.S. role in the Pacific.
