Japan students visit Saipan for cultural exchange program

The students were accompanied by their teacher Kazue Inose and they arrived here on Feb. 17.

Event coordinator Hiroko Tajima, assistant manager, Pacific Development Inc., said the visit was very successful.

“The students learned more about local culture and made friends with local students,” she told Variety.

The four students are Chiaki Irino 16, Misako Nihei, 17; Miki Ebata, 16; and Shouhei Murata, 16.

She said the students visited Kagman High School.

Three students from KagHS visited Johoku High School in November 2010. Among them were Angel Cabrera San Nicolas and Seora Jin.

Both students had a wonderful experience in Japan and decided to host Johoku High School students this year.

Tajima said Sumech Debengek San Nicokas and John Agulto Salas also hosted Japanese students.

Over the weekend, the visiting students enjoyed island hospitality by visiting tourist spots, shopping and watching a movie with their  host family.

The students left Saipan on Feb. 22.

Before they left, the students  spent time at Paupau Beach with their host family for a barbeque in celebration of President’s Day.

Johoku High School is located in Ibaraki Prefecture in Japan.

PDI coordinates  the visit of the Japanese students every year since the cultural exchange program started in 2004.
