EPA says CUC to get $11M for water, wastewater projects

EPA program manager in CNMI Michael Mann informed CUC about the approval of the $11,897,634.

Of the amount, $5,245,634 was taken from the Clean Water Act State Revolving Fund and $6,652,00 from the Safe Drinking Water Act State Revolving Fund from fiscal years 2009 and 2010.

Mann said EPA plans to award the funds through a consolidated assistance agreement under the authority of the Omnibus Territory Act, Title V, Sec. 501.

“The assistance award will have an initial performance and budget period of three years,” he told CUC.

EPA plans to incrementally add funding to the award during the three year period as future state revolving fund appropriations become available, he said.

He said the CUC work plan and budget should reflect the anticipated amount of funding that may be available over the next three years and the projects that they will propose to complete with the funding.

“The projects included in your work plan should come from the CNMI’s approved drinking water and wastewater priority list,” Mann told CUC.

Mann said CNMI matching funds are not required.
