Public Health sets flu watch campaign goal

Public Health and Hospital Preparedness Director Warren F. Villagomez yesterday said they are even expecting more volunteers to join the campaign.

The program is part of the department’s flu prevention initiative of the Flu Watch Committee through the Public Health and Hospital Emergency Preparedness Program.

During the Liberation Day celebration, the department launched the “Kung Flu Fighter” campaign.

Villagomez said they gathered 40 volunteers from the Matua Riders, Garapan Elementary School students and teachers, Trench Tech fighters and Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting staff.

He said the volunteers vowed to continue helping Public Health in the flu watch campaign on Saipan, Rota and Tinian.

“They committed to reach out aggressively to the community to give the right information to the public,” he added.

Public Health also aggressively conducted an H1N1 vaccination program and has been receiving positive feedback from the community, Villagomez said.

“We are very satisfied with the good turnout,” he said, adding that they will continue reaching out to the community, including the schools.
