Ex-village commissioner backs San Vicente youth volunteers

Moses T. Fejeran who was San Vicente’s village commissioner in the late 1970’s said in an interview  that he was the one who proposed to name the community hall in honor of the late Prudencio M. Cabrera, his predecessor who built the now abandoned facility that later become a Head Start center.

Fejeran is hoping that the dilapidated and graffiti-riddled building will be replaced with a new one so it will continue to carry the honor of those who built it.

Prudencio M. Cabrera Hall was inaugurated during the time of then-Marianas District Administrator Francisco C. Ada.

Fejeran, a member of the 6th House of Representatives, said he has already spoken with Rep. Ralph DLG. Torres, R-Saipan, to appreciate the lawmaker’s efforts.

Fejeran also expressed his willingness to help in any way he can.

As a member of the 6th House of Representatives, Fejeran said he also proposed to name the park after Joaquin S. Tudela, San Vicente’s first village commissioner.

A Republican, Fejeran said he was with the minority bloc at that time, but his proposal was approved by the Democratic leadership of the House.

He said he also asked the leadership to fund the development of the park.

$75,000 was earmarked to install the park’s sports facilities and playground, he added.
