In a report completed yesterday afternoon, the CUC power division said the temporary power interruption also resulted in a “dead short” that caused a primary neutral conductor and the “dead end sleeve” to burn.
This tripped the entire Kiya 1 Feeder.
A power team immediately responded and had the Kiya 1 energized at 3:25 a.m., CUC said.
The team was also able to restore power in a portion of second Kiya Partial at 4:06 a.m. and in the Isley Field area at 4:53 a.m.
The entire feeder, Camacho said, was restored with the completion of the final repair at 6:15 a.m., which put the Obyan Water Wells back on line.
One of the repair team members said conductors at the splicing section usually fail due to strong winds.
CUC, Camacho said, apologizes for any inconvenience that the power outage caused the community.
He said they will continue to work diligently to minimize future interruptions.
