Jesse Wu pleaded guilty last Wednesday to a criminal information filed against him, according to a statement from U.S. Attorney for the Districts of Guam and the NMI Alicia A.G. Limitiaco.
Pursuant to an agreement reached between the federal government and Wu, the case was transferred to the Central District of California for entry of his guilty plea and sentencing.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation earlier filed a complaint of wire fraud against Wu, a Severn Trent Service sales representative operating in Torrance, California that supplied a reverse osmosis, or RO, water purification system for the Commonwealth Health Center’s hemodialysis center.
The information stated that in March 2006, Wu forged a document stating that the purification unit was certified for medical use when in fact it was not. He then sent that document from his home in Southern California to the CNMI via fax machine.
The Department of the Interior’s Office of the Inspector General led the investigation with assistance from the FBI.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric O’Malley is handling the matter in the CNMI while Assistant U.S. Attorney Amanda Bettinelli is handling the matter in the Central District of California.
