Manamko’ king and queen crowned

At their coronation night held in the Hibiscus Hall of the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan Friday night, the two royalties expressed their appreciation for those who supported them.

Pangelinan said: “I am really happy that we raised funds for everybody.”

He said the last two times he participated he was “number two.”

He said his family was happy and proud that he was crowned manamko’ king.

Muna was also equally pleased that she finally made it as queen on her third attempt.

“I was princess and royal princess the previous times,” she said.

Asked by Variety how much she raised, Muna said about $1,700.

Walter Manglona, coordinator of Office on Aging, said the annual fundraiser began in March and concluded on May 17 with Muna and Pangelinan raising the most funds for the manamko’.

Manglona said a portion of the proceeds was used to defray the cost of the venue for the coronation ball.

“We fundraise to improve the programs we have,” he said.

Saipan Seniors Advisory Council President  Teresita Sorroza told Variety that they raised more than $5,000.

She said last year they were able to raise $10,000.

Sorroza said Muna raised the most funds followed by Pangelinan.

Aside from being crowned queen, Muna holds the record as the oldest matriarch among the female congregates based on the list obtained by Variety.

Former manamko’ king and now royal prince Jose I. Torres is the oldest male congregate of the Office on Aging.
