At the April 12 general membership meeting, a crowd of around 60 Friends of the Arts members gathered at the Thai House to enjoy good food, entertainment, and announcements for the upcoming FOA production of “The Three Musketeers.”
During the evening, the audience heard impressive vocal and acting performances from five of Saipan’s high school students (shown in picture) who will be performing this summer in Texas at the national competition for the National Forensic League.
Also performing on violins, much to the pleasure of FOA members, were Vicky Chen and Jane Fu from the Do Re Mi Musical Academy.
The talent from the evening’s entertainment foreshadows the upcoming FOA production, which will take place at the end of the month.
In response to community feedback, the Friends of the Arts board focused this season’s productions on comedy and music.
FOA’s entertainment offers a welcome and amusing break from the everyday, as well as a lightening of spirits.
On that vein, Fishman-Tudor said they are excited to present the upcoming “The Three Musketeers.”
Based on Alexandre Dumas’ book by the same title, FOA’s production of “The Three Musketeers” takes the original adventuresome spirit and turns it into a comedy fit for any age. This family-friendly show will take place at the multi-purpose center in a “round theater” style which engages and even involves the audience from time to time. Shows will open at 7 p.m. on April 29, 30, and 3 p.m. on May 1. This will be the last FOA production of the season, and promises to end the season with flair!
