FSM education conference results in 3 resolutions in 2 days

This two-day meeting resulted in the endorsement of three resolutions.

•Resolution FR09-10 endorses the need for the states Department of Education to consider hiring former T-3 Program highly performing instructors to enhance state career and technology education workforce and skill development as well as Guam buildup programs.

• Resolution FR09-11 supports the need for the National Office of Statistics Budget and Office of Compact Management to work collaboratively with the state Departments of Finance and budget officers in securing financial needs for state department of education in each state.

• Resolution FR09-12 sets forth in support of the schedule for the administration of the College of Micronesia entrance test to be moved from fall to spring.

The members of the FSM Association of Chiefs State School Officers include Sr. Margaret Margou, Yap director of education; Sanfio Sony, Chuuk director of education; Paul Hadik, Kosrae director of education; Joseph Villazon, Pohnpei director of education; Spensin James, president of COM-FSM; and Casiano Shoniber, the secretary of the FSM Department of Education.
