Joeten-Kiyu library’s ‘Summer Splash’ grand finale on Friday

Children’s library associate Erlinda C. Naputi said the healthy ballroom dance classes will be performing their grand finale at the library at 2 p.m. tomorrow.

The classes were conducted under the Wise Women Village Project of the Department of Public Health and the CNMI Library Council.

“On behalf of the Library Friends and the staff and management of the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library, I would like to invite everyone to join us and witness our participants showcase their skills and talents,” Naputi said.

On Friday at 3 p.m., more entertainment is in store for  visitors as the participants of the Chamorro cultural activity take center stage for the grand finale of the Summer Reading & Cultural Fair.

“We will be spinning the Wheel of Fortune. Students who still have their Summer Reading Challenge reading log are encouraged to turn it in by Thursday,” Naputi said.

Summer Splash is the first event for the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library in which Summer Reading was fused with cultural and health programs. It kicked off on June 22, 2010.

Naputi and library executive director John O. Gonzales earlier expressed appreciation for the positive response they got from the community.

Naputi said with the huge turnout in all the classes, some participants had to wait for their turn.

The Summer Reading and Cultural Fair was sponsored by the Chamolinian Cultural Village Inc., the Tan Siu Lin Foundation, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library and the CNMI Diabetes Prevention and Control Program.
