KoES students receive supplies from LISS humanitarian class

Yesterday, LISS students and staff headed by school director Wayne Pangelinan distributed the school supplies to the KoES students.

“We know how hard it is for some parents to get school supplies, so we are taking that role as part of our humanitarian efforts,” Pangelinan said.

Teachers from each grade level received the supplies — notebooks, pencils, coloring pencils and school bags — on the school stage while their students watched.

Pangelinan said the donation is the first in a series of humanitarian events they will conduct.

“I feel very happy and good because I think I’m doing a good thing and I want to help more children who are in need,” said Michael Park, a seventh grader at LISS and president of the humanitarian class.

Pangelinan said the project, which was launched two months ago, solicited donations from businesses and individuals.

LISS instructor and humanitarian class coordinator Rose Smith said they expect to get more donations.

Next week, a group from the University of Guam will arrive to hand its donations to LISS, she said.

KoES principal Rizalina M. Purugganan said the school supplies will be distributed by the teachers to students who need them.

Purugganan said she is very grateful to LISS for initiating the project.

LISS, for its part, is very thankful to the donors, Pangelinan said.
