Man arrested for firing rifle at Micro Beach pavilion

Detective Sean White said defendant AnDave Camacho was arrested at about 4:13 a.m. after a felony stop at H-Mart in Chalan Laulau.

Camacho is being held on the charge of disturbing the peace, assault with a dangerous weapon, illegal possession of a firearm, criminal mischief, and carrying a firearm under the influence of alcohol.

Superior Court Associate Judge David Wiseman ordered Camacho’s arrest and the confiscation of his  travel documents.

Wiseman set the bail at $40,000.

Camacho was scheduled to appear for his initial appearance yesterday afternoon in Superior Court.

White said DPS received a 911 call at about 3:16 a.m. regarding a possible shooting incident at the Micro Beach Pavilion.

Responding patrol officers met with the informant who identified Camacho as the one who fired four shots in the air, using a rifle.

“[Camacho] then pointed [the rifle] at the crowd asking if anyone wanted to fight,” White said.

Camacho later left in a silver Toyota pick-up truck.

In the Department of Corrections interview room at about 10:59 a.m., Camacho waived his right to have an attorney present during his interview, White said.

Camacho told White that he only popped a firecracker, waved his hand around “as if there was a pistol and…was in the passenger seat of his truck.”

When asked by White if the defendant “legally owns a firearm,” Camacho said he does not.

Camacho also told White that he was drinking prior to his arrest.

At about 1:30 p.m. on the same day, White, along with Detective Peter Camacho, talked with witnesses who saw Camacho firing the rifle at Micro Beach.

Authorities found four .223 caliber shell casings in the area.
