Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Lei Ogumoro said the victim was sitting outside his house when a man wearing a mask and green short pants ran up to him.
The suspect managed to took the victim’s shoulder bag which contained an undisclosed amount of money.
Ogumoro said when the victim was about to call the police, the suspect came back with a metal pipe and demanded money from him.
The manamko’ told the suspect to go away and he fled the scene toward the beach area.
“The suspect is described as 5’4” in height, slim and with light complexion. The male suspect also wore slippers and a dark colored cloth to conceal his face. This case is under investigation,” said Ogumoro.
She is urging members of the public to call the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 234-7272 if they have any information about the incident.
“All calls are kept anonymous, no caller ID is used and a reward of up to $1,000 is given for any information leading to an arrest,” she said.
In related news, the police is still searching for the Smith & Wesson 9mm semi-automatic handgun, along with its magazines and issued ammunition, that were stolen from a burglarized police car at a residence in Dandan last Nov. 28.
The members of the public are also urged to call the Crime Stoppers’ hotline if they have any information about the incident.
