The first position was for Jane Chigiyal to be the deputy secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs.
Chigiyal has been working in Foreign Affairs since 1991, most recently as the assistant secretary for U.S. and European Affairs.
The second nomination to be approved was for Chief of Staff Kasio E. Mida, to serve as a regent on the College of Micronesia-FSM board of regents as the representative from the national government.
The third nomination approved was for Kapilly Capelle to be a member of the board of directors of MiCare as the Pohnpei state representative.
Two nominations that were not acted upon and are still pending for the next session of Congress in Jan. 2009 are for Jefferson Timothy to be a member of the Social Security board of directors, and for Lorin S. Robert, secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs, to sit on the U.S. FSM Compact of Free Association Joint Economic Management Committee.
