(MCS) – Mount Carmel School’s Theatre Club will bring the magic of storytelling to the stage with its next production, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” Secondary Secondary Edition, based on an original story by J. K. Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne, bringing the excitement of the wizarding world to the island. Performances will be on Thursday, December 4, and Friday, December 5, at the Marianas Beach Resort Ballroom.
The show is a sequel of sorts that picks up 19 years after Harry, Ron, and Hermione saved the wizarding world. They’re back on a most extraordinary new adventure–this time, joined by a brave new generation that has only just arrived at the legendary Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. When Harry Potter’s head-strong son, Albus, befriends the son of his fiercest rival, Draco Malfoy, it sparks an unbelievable new journey for them all—with the power to change the past and future forever.
The show will be directed by Theatre Club veteran and Senior, Heleyna Dela Santa. According to Dela Santa, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child feels special on stage because it pulls you back into a world you didn’t realize you missed. It’s warm and familiar and it hits in a real way that makes you glad you came.”
Vice Principal and Theatre Club Adviser, Zeno Deleon Guerrero Jr. is equally excited about the show. As he put it, “This show reminds us of the power and magic of storytelling to heal and uplift us, especially in challenging times.” He is especially proud of the work that the students put into the show. “Our students have worked tirelessly to create something extraordinary, and I hope people come out to experience the wonder and joy they’ve created together.”
The show’s producer and Theatre Club founder, Galvin Deleon Guerrero, applauds the cast and crew for bringing yet another great show to the island community. “The club has always told great stories, whether they be classics from William Shakespeare, Disney musicals, or original productions, and this show will be no different, even if it took us about a decade to secure the rights to perform this show.” He added, “But it has definitely been worth the wait and I guarantee audiences are going to love this magical production!”
