New book aims to bring joy, magic through games

SHE plays games for a living. This time she’s sharing the games with the rest of the world through her book “Spirit Games.”

Barbara Sher, a therapist with the Public School System early childhood special education program, also authored other books— “Extraordinary Games With Ordinary Things,” “Self Esteem Games” and “Popular Games for Positive Play.”

She said “Spirit Games,” her latest book, is aimed at nurturing the children’s sense of well-being, bringing joy and magic in their lives through games and helping them get past anger, self-doubt and fear.

“This book was written from my heart and are the games I use with myself and my children to help us feel good,” Sher said.

The book offers 300 fun activities that will help uplift the spirits of children—and adults, too.

Sher said it is difficult to raise children. The book is offering practical, fun and enjoyable ideas on how to make parent-child relationships better.

“It’s better than yelling at your child. It’s a technique in being with your child and it would make life sweeter,” she said.

Sher donated copies of “Spirit Games” and “Self-Esteem Games” to Joeten-Kiyu Public Library yesterday.

“They look very good,” Janice A. Sablan, children’s librarian said. “I think I would be able to incorporate some of the games and things into my Saturday morning program. I think these would be a very nice addition to our library,” she added.
