Fernandez said they have already completed the first phase of the facilities master plan project.
“We are really excited because we would like to provide a nice facility with the best learning and teaching environment for our students,” Fernandez said.
She said the master plan will help ensure that the college will have “a state of the art campus with facilities that are equipped with modern technology that maximize student learning.”
“We hope to have everything finished by December so we could go to the next step which is to get cost estimates and work toward securing local and/or federal funds for the architectural and engineering plan.”
Fernandez hopes that work will start by January next year at the earliest, or by March at the latest.
“We may be putting out the bids for proposal by January,” she said.
Fernandez said developing and expanding the college campus is one step closer toward their goal to make NMC the “premier learning institution in the Pacific region.”
She said the first phase of the facilities master plan project involved the topographical survey of the As Terlaje campus.
She said with the completion of the first phase, they can now move on to other parts of the facilities master plan which focuses on the overall design and layout of the campus to meet the particular needs of the students.
Beca International developed the facilities master plan project through a grant from the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Office of Insular Affairs.
