“I will continue to meet with them as often as needed to ensure that their concerns are addressed promptly,” Cabrera said.
She said meeting with the student leaders is one of her first acts since she assumed the leadership of the college this week.
Cabrera met with ASNMC president Miles Rodriguez, vice president Daniel Kintol, secretary Stacey Demapan, and treasurer Mindy Park.
“Listening to and addressing student concerns is one of my chief priorities,” Cabrera said.
She described the meeting as “very productive.”
“I look forward to meeting with the rest of the student assembly as the new semester begins,” Cabrera added.
During the meeting, she said they talked about a range of issues, including the recent events at the college, the ASNMC budget, and upcoming student activities on campus.
“I also emphasized that I remain accessible to them should they need any assistance or guidance from my office,” Cabrera said.
She said she encouraged the ASNMC officers to proceed with their participation in a leadership conference to be held later this semester.
The ASNMC participates in important decision-making processes at the college.
Its officers are members of the various NMC governance bodies, including the College Council, the Budget and Finance Committee, and the Planning and Program Review and Outcomes Assessment Committee.
