Event director Sharmain Casquero said the event will start at 8:30 p.m. on July 30.
“We are inviting the community, especially the young people, to watch and be entertained by the Project Impact dance group in a variety show that we are holding for the first time,” Casquero said.
She said they hope to encourage and inspire more young people to dance and stay away from drugs.
“Project Impact group consists of young men and women who want to spread the message ‘Say no to drugs, just get up and dance.’ ”
Casquero said Marlon Francisco, a choreographer from the Philippines, established the group in 1995. The members learned techno dance, hip hop, and break dancing.
The Project Impact group has made various appearances in events and programs including Miss CNMI Universe and Miss Teen CNMI pageants, the Tinian Hot Pepper Festival, the Flame Tree Arts Festival, Taste of Marianas, Liberation Day parades, corporate and business parties, school and sports events.
The group has also been active in community services and has a long list of achievements to their name, winning various contests
The members of the Project Impact dance group are Ivan De Vero, Janee Christian De Vero, Demalynn James Sablan, Nate Mateo, Nikki Dhan Mateo, Alisa Mike Tangcoy, Adrian Tangcoy, break dancer, Reymark Castro, Marvin Castro, Kevin Razon, and Maryann Guevarra.
