Resolutions are not made to be broken, priest says

“We should learn to fulfill our promises to change in order to be a better person,” he said.

The reason why some people do not experience positive changes in their lives is because they “refuse to let go of bad habits,” he added.

According to Magbanua, the negative things experienced during the last year should serve as lessons for everyone.

Reflecting on the events of past years, forgiving one another and forgetting the faults of others will help anyone become a better person, he said.

He urged the faithful to include attending Mass every Sunday as one of their New Year resolutions.

He said, “Being busy with work, family and friends is not a reason to forget God.”

“God is busier than you are but he gives time to hear our prayers,” he added.

He advised foreign workers to also call their families at home.

Married people should not have affairs, “in order to keep their families,” he said.
