Rotarians launch traditional Christmas music CD

“Christmas in the Marianas” CDs will be available on Friday, said Laila C. Younis Boyer Rotary Club service director.

During yesterday’s Thanksgiving lunch hosted by the Rotary Club at the Aging Center, congregates and visitors had a chance to listen to some of the songs.

The featured  artists are Aging Center program coordinator Walter Manglona, Arnold Kaipat, Marvin I. Deleon Guerrero, Parker Yobei, Toni Quitugua, Alexandro “Colonel” Sablan, Jude Hofschneider, Julian Hofschneider, Joseph H. Aldan, Maggie Naputi, the Maluw Band (Chris Romolor, BJ Iriarte, Patrick Romolor and Ray Romolor), Amber Mendiola, Rose Martinez Certeza, Debbie Palacios, and Gus B. Kaipat.

Boyer said they produced 2,000 CDs, and the recommended price is $15 each.

The CDs will be sold at major stores on Saipan. Copies are also available at the Rotary Club.

The proceeds of the CD sales will be used for a community project in Kagman.

“As you enjoy these beautiful holiday songs, may you know that your support is directly going to worthwhile school and community projects that benefit us all,” the Rotarians said.

Walter Manglona said his song “Christmas Time is Here Again” is an original composition.

The song’s video features the manamko’ and  is posted on YouTube.

Deleon Guerrero, a musician and solo artist for over 15 years, said it is “rewarding and an honor” to do good to others.

His song on the CD is titled “Taotao Ni Manmadingu/Aramas Kewe O’w Isao.”

Kaipat’s song is titled “Ma Fanagu I Nino Giya Belen,” which he said is a traditional Chamorro-Carolinian Christmas tune.

Boyer said the featured artists are  from Tinian, Rota, Saipan and Guam.

Tom Bejado of Stel Star Productions is responsible for the musical arrangement, recording and orchestration.

The CDs were manufactured in the Philippines.
