Rota Board of Education member Denise Tanya King said the island’s first lady, Estrella Mendiola, also participated.
“Her presence signifies her support of this important initiative,” King said.
Saturday’s event was the fourth PSS Walk for Life, which promotes the importance of leading healthy lifestyles.
PSS nutritionist Hee Jae Lee led the walk with Rota High School principal Sharlene Manglona, King and PTA vice president Dee Taimanao.
“I commend the principal for her unwavering support of BOE’s health and wellness policy,” King said.
Also joining the event were students and parents from the Head Start Center, Sinapalo Elementary School, Rota Junior High School and Rota High School.
Likewise, the RHS National Honor Society, the JROTC and the RJHS Leadership Corps have been a “dominant force” at all “Walk for Life” events, King said.
RHS has a daily health and wellness program in its curriculum, King said.
Each day, the entire student body assembles and participates in different physical activities, she added.
