September car sales down by 9.62 percent

Based on the latest report released by the Commonwealth Auto Dealers Association, the 47 brand new units sold were composed of 25 sedans, four trucks, 17 sports utility vehicles and one van.

Joeten Motors took the lead in sales this month after disposing 21 brand new units and claiming a 44.68 percent market share. Joeten sold nine cars, one truck, one van and 10 SUV’s.

Following close on Joeten’s heels is Microl Corp. with 20 units sold or  a 42.55 percent market share. Microl Corp. sold 13 sedans, three trucks and four SUVs.

Bringing up the rear in sales is Triple “J” Motors with six units sold for 12.77 percent market share. Triple J sold three sedans and three SUVs.

Still leading in brand sales is Toyota with 20 units sold, followed by Nissan with 13. Honda sold five; Mazda,  three; Ford and Suzuki,  two  each; and Kia and Hyunda, one each.

From January to September, the three dealers sold 500 brand new vehicles — a 1.01 percent increase compared to the 495 sold during the same period last year.

The brand new units sold included 277 sedans, 48 trucks, 41 vans, 128 SUVs and six others.

The three dealers also sold  23 used cars in September. Microl Corp. sold 15, representing a 45.5 percent market share. Triple “J” Motors sold 13, for a 39.4 percent share of the market, while Joeten Motors sold five or a 15.2 percent  market share.  

In the first nine months of 2008, 107 used cars were sold by Microl Corp. Triple “J” sold 93 while Joeten Motors sold 78.

Joeten Motors is the local dealer of Nissan, Ford, Honda and Kia. Microl Corp. distributes Toyota and Chevrolet while Triple “J” Motors sells Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Suzuki and Mazda.
