The CNMI Constitution mandates the governor to report annually to the Legislature regarding the affairs of the commonwealth and about any new measures necessary for its development.
Last year, Fitial said the CNMI was in deep financial trouble but the prospects of reviving its tourism-based economy could still be achieved with the right formula.
He touted the administration’s efforts to entice more foreign carriers to serve the Saipan route.
Sablan, as the first elected member of the U.S. Congress from the CNMI, will deliver a report about federal matters concerning the commonwealth.
“Whereas, a report from the CNMI congressional delegate is highly desirable to inform the government of the CNMl before a joint session of the Legislature on the efforts of his office to advance and protect the CNMI’s interests and other federal matters concerning the Commonwealth,” states House Joint Resolution 16-26.
The Senate is scheduled to hold a session today to adopt the resolution.
