Tenorio to lay off 3 of 4 staffers

Tenorio, Covenant-Saipan, believes he could do more for the his constituents as member of the House rather than as speaker.

He said he wants to introduce legislation to privatize the Commonwealth Utilities Corp., the Commonwealth Health Center and Northern Marianas College.

He said he will also sponsor a legislative initiative for an elected attorney general and push for the reduction of House seats from 20 to 11  while increasing the salary of the members.

He said he is laying off three of his staffers at the end of December.

Tenorio said he will endorse Vice Speaker Felicidad T. Ogumoro, Covenant-Saipan to be the next speaker.

He disclosed, however, that two members of the House leadership are joining the minority bloc. The speaker declined to say who they are.
