Time for change

We must participate, help and join the Hofschneider-Palacios campaign so that the incompetent leadership of the current administration will not continue to make our lives more miserable,” Deleon Guerrero said.

According to the ruling Covenant Party, Deleon Guerrero’s former running mate, former Education Commissioner David M. Borja, has endorsed Gov. Benigno R. Fitial’s candidacy.

In a statement the governor said he is pleased to have Borja’s support.

“I am so pleased to have the endorsement of not only Dr. Borja but also many of the fine and hardworking leaders from the Committee to Elect Kumoi and Borja,” he said.

Greg Camacho, chairman of the Covenant Party, at the same time said they “appreciate but respectfully disagree with the statement that former Senator…Deleon Guerrero released announcing his recent conversion to the other team.”

Poor governance

Deleon Guerrero said his heart “goes out to all of the people of the commonwealth that have suffered from poor governance and poor leadership that have wrecked the lives of our people. This election has shown that many people in the commonwealth hoped for change and improvements to bring us out of the doldrums.”

Over the last few days, Deleon Guerrero said he and his  supporters discussed who to support in the runoff and came up with the conclusion that it should be Republican Rep. Heinz S. Hofschneider.

He said Hofschneider and his running mate, Speaker Arnold I. Palacios, have the same vision for reforms.

“Hofschneider and Palacios have whole-heartedly embraced these visions.   They have even taken to heart, our campaign theme of ‘Time For Change.’   Hofschneider has even acknowledged that our differences of over a decade and a half ago…should not hinder the people’s need for change, that is now at the most critical juncture in the history of the commonwealth,” said the former senator.

“And most importantly, the desires of my supporters have confirmed that Hofschneider- Palacios is the right team for us to support to bring much needed change for the people of the commonwealth,” he added.

Deleon Guerrero noted the Fitial administration’s broken promises.

“The current leadership of the CNMI is one that has contributed to the mess that we are now in. This current administration had four years to help the people of the commonwealth. This administration promised us to remove the fuel surcharge. They promised to turn around our economy. This current administration promised that we will have high quality health care. They promised an efficient government. None of these promises made by this current administration have been delivered,” he said.

“This current administration does not deserve another four years of our time.  Please do not squander another four years of our lives, to poor and ignorant leadership.   Please do not allow incompetent people to wreck the lives of our children,” he added.
