US Ambassador Prahar meets Yap governor and lt. governor

Top on his list of issues, relates to utility.

Prahar said a grant request to the U.S. government of $600,000 as a onetime payment to offset costs on utility programs, is likely to be denied.

The U.S. government, through the U.S.-FSM Joint Economic Management Committee, will not provide funding for bad policies he said.

The two officials also went into brief discussion on the sliding performance of the utility program and how this concern might be addressed.

The meeting also allowed for discussions on pending requests to the U.S. Office of Insular Affairs to consider purchasing smaller generators to match present energy demand.

Prahar will also be meeting members of the Yap State Legislature as well as management and board of the Yap Public Service Corp. on this topic.

Other issues discussed include infrastructure projects, and other military aids such as the upcoming outer island high school project to be done by the U.S. Pacific Command.
