Despite the scorching sun that greeted him every day at work, Bisalen said “I learned a lot: how to plant and to transplant.”
On Friday, Bisalen and five other WIA trainees assigned to the Saipan mayor’s office received their certificates of work completion.
The other trainees were Jessylla Hiromi, Mario Brel, Binwei Secharmidal, Kayla Sanchez and Susan Torres.
Hiromi said she learned how to manage things.
“I assist in the maintenance like changing oil of vehicles,” said Brel, who was assigned to Lower Base.
Scharmidal finds it “more relaxing” to work for a private company.
Sanchez, for her part, said: “I have learned a lot about community service and I really enjoy working at the mayor’s office.”
She is thankful to Kay Nepaial, one of the mayor’s staff workers at the reception area.
Torres said: “I am thankful to be placed here. I have learned more than I’ve expected. Thanks to my supervisor Kay Nepaial!”
Larissa Flores, who coordinated with the WIA applicants at the mayor’s office, said they requested for eight workers but WIA only provided them six. They were assigned to the dog tagging program, the main office, the nursery, and the mayor’s extension office in Lower Base.
“They were a big help to the office,” Flores said
The group completed their 25 days of work which started on July 11 and ended on Aug. 5.
Today, Flores said another group of WIA trainees will report for work at the mayor’s office.
