NMI women’s group, WAO to hold several events this year

THE CNMI Women’s Association and the Women’s Affairs Office plan to hold events this year to bring the community together while empowering women and girls.

Guided by the theme, “Gender Equality: Key to Sustainable Development,” the 2021 Women’s Month Planning Committee, co-led by CWA and WAO, announced the following events for 2021:

March 3 — CNMI Women’s Month Proclamation Signing.

March 4 — Women As Entrepreneurs: How to start A Business; Women’s Proclamation Day at 9 a.m. in Rota mayor’s office conference hall.

March 5 — Women’s Mass Celebration, San Isidro Church at 5 p.m.

March 6, 13, 20, and 27—Motheread/Fatheread CNMI family Literacy Class from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. to be hosted by Northern Marianas Housing Corp./Joeten-Kiyu Public Library.

March 7, 14, 21, and 28 — Sirena Project at the Guma Sakman from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

March 10 — Women’s Leadership Training.

March 11 — Women as Entrepreneurs: How to Write a Business Plan.

March 15 — Outreach: Free Blood Pressure and Glucose Check before Women’s Walk-A-Thon at 5:30 a.m.  on Rota.

March 18 — Women As Entrepreneurs: How to Prepare a Financial Plan.

March 25 — Women As Entrepreneurs: How to Prepare a Marketing Plan.

March 26 — Women’s Recognition Day and International Women’s Day hosted by first lady Diann Torres and second lady Wella Palacios.

March 28 — Day of Prayer to be hosted by the WAO.

March 31 — Training on Gender Equality, Women’s Health, Waving at 4 p.m., Teteto Pavilion on Rota.

Government agencies, businesses, educational institutions and other stakeholders are strongly encouraged to participate and get involved in this year’s 2021 Women’s Month activities.

“Women are at the heart of sustainable development,” said CWA president Cecilia Taitano who co-chairs the 2021 Women’s Month Planning Committee.

“As we continue to push for greater action, we have more work to do to connect the issues of gender, sustainability, and climate action,” she said.
