(Press Release) — On Tuesday last week, Master Sgt. Eugenio Ramirez of Marine Corps Base Camp Blaz presented a certificate of appreciation to first lady Diann Torres and second lady Wella Palacios for their partnership in the 2020 Toys for Tots Campaign.
“I would like to thank first lady Diana, second lady Wella and their team for all their hard work and dedication,” Ramirez said. “Due to Covid, Marines from Camp Blaz were unable to provide as much support as we would in the past. With your team’s effort we were able to work together to overcome the challenges to make 2020 Toys for Tots Campaign a success. We look forward to a bigger and better 2021.”
The U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Campaign brought holiday cheers to youths of Rota, Tinian, Saipan and the Northern Islands through the distribution of toys and gifts.
In December, MSgt. Ramirez and his Team painted the island of Saipan red scavenging retail stores and purchased 1,575 toys worth $18,688.45.
Together with various on-island partner organizations along with first lady Diann and second lady Wella, more than 3,500 toys were distributed in the CNMI. 600 toys came from Guam and were distributed on Tinian and Rota.
Recipients of the first lady Diann and second lady Wella’s Toys for Tots Campaign included youths at the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library, the Northern Islands and the children of our 302nd Quartermaster and ECO Company Units of the U.S. Army Reserves.
“On behalf of second lady Wella and our children across the Commonwealth, I extend my appreciation to MSgt. Ramirez and his team for sharing the gift of giving every Christmas season with our community,” first lady Diann said. “We appreciate that the program moved forward even during this difficult time. Thank you for your partnership and we look forward to this year’s Toys for Tots Campaign.”
