Uludong in his letter to Senate President Mlib Tmetuchl said that in that session, Diaz has asked President Johnson Toribiong to fire him and has asked him to step down as an Ombudsman.
Uludong in his letter said that, Diaz took the recording of the session to his private television station MBTV and broadcasted it as a private program of his TV station.The Ombudsman also asked for a copy of a Senate rule or memo giving Diaz the exclusive power to control and edit any press release to the public coming from the Senate.In the letter, Uludong said that he is expecting a response to his queries yesterday.Uludong said that Diaz has earlier lodged a complaint against one of the government employee, Joe Aitaro for driving a government vehicle to OTV/ Rollem Production Office in Malakal.The Ombudsman said his duties is to “receive, resolve or refer to appropriate officials, complaints and grievances from individuals about government services and programs, make recommendations to the president to improve government services and programs and perform any other duties assigned by the president.”Uludong in the letter added that Diaz’s complaint submitted to him were for violations of laws therefore should be made directly to the police and the Attorney General not the President or the Ombudsman.Uludong explained that the Ombudsman does not prosecute violations of laws and does not resolve or address complaints by public officials against citizens.He said that his complaint is being forwarded to the proper authorities in the government.
