Toribiong, who left for Taiwan over the weekend with a 16-member delegation, said Henry, like the new ambassador’s predecessor, will not receive any compensation but will be reimbursed for his expenses.
If his nomination is confirmed by the Senate, Jackson will succeed Toribiong as Palau’s ambassador to Taiwan.Toribiong will be in Taiwan from Feb. 22 to 28 and his delegation includes first lady Valeria Toribiong, Paramount High Chiefs Yutaka Gibbons and Raphael Ngirmang, Sen. Kathy Kesolei, Delegate Alexander Merep, Ngirai Tmetuchl, Colin Joseph, Jack Master, Philip Polloi, Hila Asanuma, Ngchesar Gov. Florencio Adelbai, Saluai Salvador and Dr. Francesca Soaladaob.Palau is among the 23 countries that have diplomatic ties with Taiwan.
