Palau Community College (PCC) celebrated its 47th Commencement Exercises on May 28, Palau High School on May 27 and Koror Elementary School (KES) on May 26.
Almost a hundred graduates of PCC participated in one of the biggest graduation events to date in Palau.
Sharing the limelight with PCC graduates were 18 graduating students from Adult High School who also received their high school equivalency diplomas, as well as three Ministry of Health Substance Abuse and Addiction Counseling Program awardees who received certificates of achievements.
PCC’s top honor went to Aquila Masami, class valedictorian. Other top honors were President’s listers Claudine Gabino, Sweety Kalbesang, Katherine Masang, Isiah Roberto, Rachel Suman, John Takisang, Tirisa Tirso, Joy Whipps, and Dean’s Listers Ruth Anderson and E-Van Ongrung.
On the other hand, 81 students from Koror Elementary School graduated this year.
The Promotional Ceremony opened with speeches from Principal Andrew Tabelual and parent representative Joe Aitaro.
Principals from various elementary schools also took part of the event. Koror Elementary School is proud of the fact that most of the valedictorians from high schools such as Emmaus, Belau Modekngei and Palau High school, as well as from PCC are all alumnus of KES.
On May 24, Peleliu Elementary School, Angaur Elementary School and John F. Kennedy Elementary School celebrated their graduation ceremony. George B. Harris Elementary School, Ngarchelong Elementary School, Melekeok Elementary School, Ngaraard Elementary School, Ngardmau Elementary School, Ibobang Elementary School, Ngeremlengui Elementary School, Aimeliik Elementary School and Meyuns Elementary School commemorated their Promotional Day on May 25; while Ngchesar Elementary School, Airai Elementary School and Ngiwal Elementary School celebrated theirs on May 26.
Some private schools are celebrating their graduation rites this week — Mindszenty High School will be on Saturday and Maris Stella School is celebrating it today.
