Tahiti has over 6,000 active Covid-19 cases

PAPE’ETE (RNZ Pacific/Pacnews) — There had been 1,602 cases recorded in French Polynesia over the past three days.

This compares with more than 2,800 cases during the preceding two days.

The number of active cases has risen to 6,281.

Hospitalization has grown as there are now 20 Covid-19 patients, including five in intensive care.

A further 41 people, who tested positive for the virus, are in the hospital for other ailments.

Vaccinations have continued and just over 79% of those 12 years and older have been fully vaccinated, while inoculations have been started for children five years and older.

The French vaccine pass is needed to enter venues, restricting the options of those who decline vaccinations.
