KoES 2 bags 2 wins in elementary co-ed basketball tourney

KOBLERVILLE Elementary School’s team 2 kicked off the IT&E Interscholastic Elementary Co-ed Basketball League with a bang as they earned two straight convincing wins Saturday at the Marianas High School gym.

KoES 2’s first opponent was William S. Reyes Elementary School’s team 2.

Right from the start, KoES 2 established control thanks to the consistency of Kelvin John.

After each successful stop, the team’s goal was to hand John the ball so he could finish the transition play.

John highlighted the first half with four consecutive buckets along with a handful of single points from the charity line.

KoES2 did not just shine offensively but they excelled on the defensive end as well.

WSR 2 was kept far from striking distance and could only score two points in the first half, and  another two in the second half.

Meanwhile, KoES 2 stuck to their plan and continued to feed John while the rest of the team contributed a few shots of their own en route to a double-digit victory, 22-4.

KoES 2’s next opponent was San Vicente Elementary School 2.

KoES 2, which won 26-4, went for the unselfish approach as each player had a feel for the ball. John led the first half with six points while Johnny Hossain and Gavin Zander Rogolifoi took over the second half, all the while keeping SVES 2 to just four points for the entire game.

SVES 2 took another loss against Kagman Elementary School, 6-24, but beat Brilliant Star School 16-3.

KoES 2's Kelvin John dribbles forward for an unguarded finish during an opening game of the IT&E Interscholastic Elementary Co-ed Basketball League Saturday at the MHS gym.
